We report the numerical observation of discrete spatial solitons in a periodically poled lithium niobate waveguide array by applying an electrical field through electro-optical effect. We show that discrete spatial soliton can be controlled by applied voltage in the periodically poled lithium niobate.

The formation of the spatial solitons in the quadratic nonlinearity χ^((2)) media by cascading second harmonic generation (SHG) in quasi-phase-matched (QPM) sample is studied on the basis of nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE). When the solitary wave propagates in the QPM media, it formed optical wave-guides through cascading χ^((2)) effect called self-induced soliton wave-guide. Transverse refractive index distribution of the self-induced soliton wave-guide of fundamental and SHG wave is obtained by cascading process. Analysis of guided-mode of such self-induced soliton wave-guide is first proposed to our knowledge. Because the power needed for forming the spatial solitons in cascading process is much lower than that inKerr media, this kind of self-induced soliton wave-guide shows potential applications in all-optical signal process.

A model of the alignment of azobenzene molecules in polymer film induced by all-optical poling is proposed and verified by experiment. We found that when the writing beams of frequencies ω and 2ω are both linearly polarized with their polarization directions parallel to each other, azobenzene molecules tend to reorient to the direction perpendicular to the writing beams polarization. At the end of the writing process, more molecules orient to the direction perpendicular to the writing beams polarization than those orient to the parallel direction. The alignment of molecules parallel or perpendicular to the polarization of the writing beams is characteristic of polarity or no polarity, respectively. The alignment of molecules along the polarization of writing beams results in the second order nonlinearity in the polymer film. According to the model, a new method to improve the optical poling efficiency is put forward.

报道一台采用调Q红宝石激光器泵浦的高增益角度调谐LiNbO_3光参量振荡器.最大输出能量和转换效率分别高达50mJ/pulse和19%.该振荡器从1.1444μm到1.7652μm连续可调谐.

本文给出了光源频谱是洛仑兹分布的高斯脉冲,在单模光纤中传输时因一阶色散而展宽的近似理论.得到了在光纤中传输的脉冲光功率的系综平均值和输出脉冲宽度的均方根值的近似解析公式.数值分析的结果表明,所给出的公式与数值解的最大偏差小于5%.

本文从实验发现的BSO晶体存在与光强有关的吸收机制出发,考虑到自衍射与光栅记录的相互作用,推导了描述BSO晶体内两波相互作用的非线性耦合波方程.根据动态相互作用的模型,提出了方程数值求解的方法.计算结果成功地解释了目前理论与实验的偏离.文章对不同物理条件下两波相互作用的规律进行了计算,并用实验验证.
